Danielle Duffy, M.D., Joins the Jefferson Heart Institute
Cardiologist Danielle Duffy, M.D., has joined the Jefferson Heart Institute. She has also been named an assistant professor of Medicine at Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University and joins the faculty after completing her fellowship in cardiovascular diseases at Jefferson.
Prior to joining Jefferson, Dr. Duffy completed medical school, internal medicine residency and a postdoctoral research fellowship at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
Board certified in Internal Medicine, Dr. Duffy will be specializing in cardiovascular prevention and advanced lipid disorders. She will also be focusing on women’s cardiovascular health.
Dr. Duffy’s research has focused primarily on cardiovascular prevention. She is currently involved in a study to determine the effect of Vitamin D on cardiovascular inflammation. She is also participating in a study to evaluate a new cholesterol medication to raise HDL – good cholesterol.
Over her career Dr. Duffy has published numerous peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, abstracts, and served on numerous professional and scientific committees.
She is a member of the American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association and the National Lipid Association.
During her undergraduate years attending Swarthmore College Dr. Duffy excelled athletically, earning Division III all-American Honors in Field Hockey.
